I
moved to Laramie WY after having grown up in DC.
The University of Wyoming in Laramie was my college of first choice,
because I love the town, surrounding mountains, cool clear air, and
eclectic mix of community artists, talented teachers, and Wild West
atmosphere. Its architectural engineering program provides a solid
ABET-certified civil engineering education blended with structural design and green
building coursework that I hope to use in practice. Laramie, with
its its growing job base, is an exciting place to live.
Laramie is much different from Dupont Circle in Washington DC where
I grew up. (I also spent my senior year of High School on the
Eastern Shore of Maryland). I grew to embrace DC's quirks. I know the
Washington Metro like the palm of my hand and
know my way around the town blindfolded. In Washington DC, I
was able to study violin with teachers David Strom, Martha
Shackford, and Ronda Cole, who remain lifelong friends. I also
formed my music performance business in Washington DC, after busking for tips with an open case at Metro stations, and later
incorporated in the state of Maryland. (See Capital Players at

I've changed schools nearly as often as
I've changed my hair. After skipping kindergarten, I was whisked
away to DC, where I commuted to school in McLean VA, at a small
academy. I eventually moved to the Owl School, then quickly onto the
British School of Washington. I studied there for many years. The English curriculum brought me back
into my age group, and saturated me in British history and culture.
Starting my sophomore year, I attended St. John's College High
School in Washington DC, and completed my high school education in
North Caroline HS in Ridgely MD. To all my teachers, I am most
grateful for the time and attention they spent on me. I am also
deeply appreciative for the opportunities given to me by the
University of Wyoming, the University of Wyoming Symphony
Association, and Northrop Grumman, for the scholarship opportunities
they have provided. I am privileged to have worked as a teachers assistant in the Honors Department, and as a grader supporting several teachers in the Dept. of Civil Engineering.
Upon
graduation, I hope to attain a Masters of Science in High Performance Buildings, an engineering discipline using building information modeling (BIM) to design energy efficiency high use structures. I hope to work at an architectural firm and undertake new
engineering challenges. Once I gain significant work experience and
a record of successful projects, I hope to start my own business.
